Twinfield helps to drive innovation

We are very excited to be included in the next edition of Ingenious Britain – a special feature designed around and focused on small businesses and their needs.

Our managing director, Barbara Kroll will discuss how online accounting provides an innovative way of enabling smaller businesses to keep an eye on their finances through collaboration with their accountant  – encouraging operations to become faster, errors to be reduced and most importantly, allowing the SME to draw on their accountants advice whenever, wherever.

Ingenious Britain advocates the importance of small business start-ups and medium sized enterprises, whilst highlighting how much they contribute towards the UK economy on a surprisingly massive scale. We, at Twinfield also believe that SMEs have a great deal to offer the economy and having experience of being a start-up business ourselves are proud to support the campaign!

The Ingenious Britain issue will be printed in the Sunday Telegraph on 28th April 2013 – make sure you keep an eye out for it and let us know what you think!

For more information on Ingenious Britain take a look at their website or follow them on Twitter.

Online accounting: It’s time to move into the cloud

It’s tough out there at the moment for businesses; it therefore comes as no surprise that more and more UK companies are adopting Cloud-based accounting solutions to help keep ahead of the market. Online accounting is already changing the face of the accountancy profession and this will no doubt continue as more and more businesses make – what we of course think is – the sensible switch.

Like all new technologies, online accounting creates opportunities as well as challenges, so let’s look at the benefits?

  • At the most basic level, a VAT return can be completed in seconds because the information is already there and verified. There’s no need to spend extra time checking figures are accurate – that process has already been completed. Similarly, the end of year accounts process is virtually seamless – which can only help to drive down business costs.
  • Online accounting also creates an opportunity for practices to work collaboratively with their clients.  Although there are other ways of doing this, online accounting encourages clients and their accountants to work in parallel with real-time data to help with decision making.
  • More importantly, this approach can help to transform the value of the service offered to clients – rather than low profit book-keeping, firms can offer a range of services that essentially can add value.

It’s fair to say, there are a number  of benefits when delivering Service through Software (SaaS) – for the end user it offers simplicity and ease of use, combined with 24/7 access, reduced IT and admin, genuine scalability and low start-up costs.

So, maybe it’s time to take the leap and change the way we think about technology by moving more businesses into the Cloud…what do you think?
